The Island

So now I am onto Post number 2. So I said I would describe the island and my home and I will. As I said before, it takes you five to ten minutes to cycle round the island so as you can tell from my calculations, it is very small. There is a forest in the middle and mountains and a volcano to the sides. Our camp is to the East of the island, The Tomas, the North and The Hoses, the South. There are loads of coconut trees which I learnt to climb at the age of four. But we couldn't live of coconuts and the streams of water that trickle down the mountain sides. Dads friend is the only one who knows we are here so we pay him to supply us with food. He come in a ferry every month and often stays over. He doesn't just bring food though, he brings clothes, books, films, and art stuff. Me and my dad are big artists so we paint and sketch allot
Now onto my house. Have you ever watched Nims Island? Well, if you have, our house is a bit like hers. We basically have a huge living room with a sofa for my dad to sleep on, and big desk with two laptops and a whole load of books. There is also a big fish tank with all my dads fish. Its a big airy room with rugs on the floor. The sofa is also covered in blankets so you cant actually see the actual colour of the sofa: red. There is also a small toilet and a tiny kitchen just for boiling up the water and for storing our food. We mostly eat in the living room. Above the living room, there is a little jutting out floor with a rope ladder going up to it. This is my room. It has a slanting roof and is really small. On the ceiling I have put up photos and pictures of fish and me. I sleep on a mattress with a Kath Kidston duvet. Oh yeah, I forgot to say, I love Kath Kidston. Not the flowery pinky girlie stuff, but the cowboy stuff and boat stuff. I will put a picture of me on this post of when we traveled to America. The boy with me is my friend called Arthur. The duvet is mine. Back to my room. I have an old battered leather suitcase holding my clothes. Its kind of like in the films when they have the brown suitcase with stickers on it. I have a line of books on the floor. Jess has her old bed next to me and Davie just sleeps on a pillow. All three cats sleep on my bed. I have a little window that shows you a view of the sea and half of the island. It has a little seat where i have put a few pillows. I normally sit there every evening reading of drawing with List on my lap. He likes to sit on me when I am drawing or reading there. I have a light blue rug on the floor and a small laptop. My dad has always been into tech stuff.
I have to go and help my dad fish now but later today or tomorrow I will post a blog on how my day has been. I will describe myself a bit more then.
Introducing me

My name is Columba Esme Williams and I live on an island in the Atlantic that is owned by France. I cant tell you the name because it is a very small island and we don't want people hearing about us. I live with my dad who is a marine biologist but he also home schools me. That is why I have to do this blog, he says it is a good project to do. So I get to do this project for how long as I want: my dad doesn't really care, he is too caught up in his fish. About three days a week he actually sits me down and teaches me a whole lesson but mostly I go fishing with him and he teaches me things there.
It takes you ten minutes or less to cycle round the island. There are three families on the island including me and dad. There are The Thomas which include Mr Thoma and Mrs Thoma, Jack Thoma who is my age; twelve, and Lily Thoma who is five. The other family is the The Hoses. There are the parents and then Tom who is four and Lily's friend. So overall there are only ten people on the island.....but we have some pets! I have an old, retired, brown and white greyhound called Jess, and a black and white sheepdog called Davie. We also have three cats called Toffle who is black, Brams who is tabby and List who is ginger. Brams and Toffle are both twenty years old but List is just a kitten. We keep all manner of fish hence the fact that my dad is a marine biologist! The Thomas have a golder retriever called Sandy and The Hoses have a chocolate Labrador called Daisy.
So that is the people. I will describe the Island and my house in the next blog. Now I will post some pictures.
